Critical to the success of any new public space project is an engaged community that has contributed to the design and programming of the space throughout that project's evolution. Eagle Plaza has benefited from nearly five years of community engagement and participatory design.
Below is a list of the community outreach and city approval meetings held to date.
Friends of Eagle Plaza was established to assume a leadership role in the operations and programming of the plaza.
Introductory Public Community Meeting (Jun 18, 2014) - Plaza concept introduced to community members
Public Community Meeting (Jul 8, 2014) - Community feedback solicited for plaza concept and design
Community Design Charrette (Sep 23, 2014) - Facilitated by Gehl Studio, open to public, stakeholder group design and feedback to inform plaza conceptual design (pictures from event below)
"Report Back" Community Meeting (Dec 2, 2014) - Summary of September charrette outcomes, more feedback solicited
Eagle Plaza Beer Bust (Feb 15, 2015) - Free fundraiser event for Friends of Eagle Plaza showcasing conceptual plaza design and soliciting feedback, both in front of and inside The SF Eagle. (pictures from event below)
Public Community Meeting (Feb 17, 2015) - Showcased conceptual plaza design, same information as at Beer Bust but in more family friendly setting
